Mrs. Carol Beverage Named Teacher of the Year

My name is Carol Beverage, and I am honored to have been chosen Teacher of the Year by my compassionate, loving, talented teachers here at Conway Child Development. I teach Preschool Children with Developmental Delays, ages four to five. I had my first opportunity to work with children in a small community in West Virginia at a preschool for children at risk. I fell in love working with these children and decided to go to school to earn a degree in general education. When it was brought to my attention that Horry County needed people to work with children with autism, my husband and I made the move to South Carolina. I worked for autism services for six years, while completing my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood at Coastal Carolina University. I graduated in 2006 and started work as a Preschool teacher at Homewood Elementary. I am currently in my fourth year of teaching and have taught at Conway Education Center for the past three years. In addition to teaching, I love to read and encourage my students to discover the same passion through daily group reading sessions.

| Honoring Our Veterans |
|
On November 10, our staff, students, parents and community members joined together at Conway Child Development to honor our veterans that have served and sacrificed for each of us because of their love for their families, their children, their friends, our country and mostly because they cherish our freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Local veterans joining in our celebration this day included our very own physical education teacher, Mr. Robert Spino, our parents, Mr. William Barrow, Mr. Terrance Carter, Mr. Kenneth Bellamy, and Mr. Ronald Czurak. The Veteran's Day Program was highlighted with a presentation of colors by Mattie Winburn and Robert Sweet followed with the Pledge of Allegiance by Trinitee Long. Mr. Rob Spino presented the Veteran's Day Proclamation and recognized our Veterans present followed by a moment of silence and the playing of Taps. Our librarian, Ms. Laurie Wise, shared a video presentation honoring all veterans followed by a reading of The Wall by Eve Bunting with Mr. Rob Spino. Our Veterans Celebration closed with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and retiring of the colors. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who paritcipated in our Veterans' Celebration. A special thank you is extended to all of our veterans who have committed their lives to our liberty and freedom, and we thank you for your sacrifice and service for each of us.
